Getting back to the basics of speaking!
It’s all about repetition, continuity, and practice.
It has been three months since I finished my speaking course. Looking back at my notes, I realized I had forgotten many of the techniques, so I’ve started reviewing them. There aren’t that many fundamental patterns; if I make a conscious effort to use them every day, they should eventually become second nature.
Simply cutting down on filler words like “um” and “uh” can drastically change the impression you make when speaking. I remembered how those kinds of fillers used to bother me when listening to presenters during my time as a corporate employee, and I’ve renewed my resolve to watch my own speech habits.
I also have opportunities to speak during the “check-in” at every group lesson, which reinforces the importance of repeatedly practicing the basics. I’ve heard that some people have seen their sales skyrocket as a result. I’m sticking faithfully to the fundamentals—repetition, continuity, and practice.
