Making It Understandable Even to an Elementary School Student
I began these speaking lessons because I wanted to be able to clearly explain what I do to people I meet for the first time. I’ve been at it for over six months and thought I was doing a good job of explaining it—but feedback from a group session revealed that there is still plenty of room for improvement.
The key is to “use language that even an elementary school student could understand.” It’s about avoiding complex terminology and being able to explain what I do in a way that someone meeting me for the first time can grasp immediately. I’ve come to realize that this isn’t just the goal for my speaking—it’s the ultimate objective for my consulting work as well.
