Losing One’s Edge

It takes three days to get back to normal after just one day off.

I’ve keenly realized how quickly one “loses their edge” after skipping a daily routine for even a single day. Having to recall details—such as the workflow sequence, file locations, or exactly where I left off—takes more than twice the usual amount of time. It feels like it takes three days just to recover from a single day of absence. The thought of what might happen if I took three or four days off is truly daunting.

Last year, when I was bedridden with the flu for five days, it took a considerable amount of time to regain my rhythm. It really drives home the immense value of consistency. I am reminded once again that the greatest strength lies in simply not stopping—even with the smallest of habits.
